Disability Benefits for goblins are one of the major issues for working class goblins today. While many laboring goblins who work for cash or are in this country illegally, disability insurance is not even an option. For these groups, as many other minorities in this country free clinics and ER visits are their only option for medical care.
However, even among the gainfully employed goblin masses there is a serious problem of insurers willing to extend goblin policies. There are continuing court battles to afford goblins the same rights to have comprehensive disability insurance policies, however the battle is a slow one. Insurance companies and doctors are well aware that goblins are highly susceptible to lower back, and muscle spasms ailments. In addition goblins are 50% more likely to develop mental disorders such as depression and anxiety.
While there are those organizations which offer free clinics and mental health advise, their resources are limited. For additional information please visit
I wonder if you would comment on a broader issue. Everybody knows that goblins have at least two gizzards which allow them to ingest gems, but not many people know that the American Medical Association does not even require that goblin anatomy be taught to medical students! The consequences are indeed quite staggering - owing primarily to a lack of knowledge, few doctors are able to quickly identify gizzard-related issues such as gizzard stones and sore gizzard, allowing these simple issues to develop into more complicated ailments requiring emergency room visits and difficult surgeries such as gizzectomies.
ReplyDeleteWhat legal recourse do goblin activists have to confront the AMA's deliberate negligence of this under-served community?
Here, Here! Finally something sensible from the Goblin-hater. Perhaps I misjudged you earlier, Brett.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the question Brett.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of recognition of goblin medical ailments extends from the general unwillingness of our legislators to enact laws that would ensure equal medical rights for goblins. As a result goblins have no recourse with state and federal institutions which cannot act without specific statutory mandates from the government.
The best option for goblins who have suffered medical complications as a result of lacking/negligent diagnosis is to seek legal counsel. There are many lawyers in most major cities who deal with medical malpractice and constitutional rights issues and who are more than willing to accept goblin clients.
The best advice I can give is to either seek help from local free clinics who may be more willing to pursue alternative treatments than standard hospital/insurance health care facilities.
Also, any goblin should not hesitate in contacting http://www.minorityrights.org/ which can give direct them to proper legal/medical council.
As a second-year medical student, I can tell you that there is considerable, almost fulminant unrest surrounding the lack of goblin-centric care in most curricula. We here at USC pride ourselves on having a modern, flexible program that rapidly adapts to burgeoning societal issues such as this one. This year we introduced a special two-week Goblinology block, focused on developing physiological as well as cultural facility. We learned not only how to diagnose and treat common ailments such as bilateral gizzard dysplasia, ruby toxicity, gnome fetish, and headache, but to interface and more easily develop rapport by being sensitive to cultural phenomena. After seeing little Drobnar's toothy grin after I removed the pickaxe mistakenly driven into his skull by a coworker, I can only hope the rest of the country's medical schools will follow suit.
ReplyDeleteYou may praise Foster and his good-looking, white and tanned male doctor friends at USC for blazing a new trail in Goblin medicine, but we must ask ourselves why we are taking a Goblin issue and forcing our own methods and sciences upon them as "solutions." There is a reason the AMA and modern medicine has failed to properly diagnose Goblin ailments, and that is because Academia and your Science textbooks
ReplyDeletewont acknowledge the truth in Goblin Wizardry and Spirit medicine. These crafts, and the Goblin Witchdoctors that devoted their lives to mastering them, have fizzled out and have been pushed aside by medical machines and computer technologies. Your solution to the Goblin health problem has been staring you right in the face, you just wont acknowledge that a Shaman knows more than your $2,000,000 machine. Please, spare us any further 'enlightenment' oh wise humans.
